Q - What camera did you use for Cameras and Coffee?
A. - I used a Panasonic S5II.
Q. How long have you been taking photos?
A. I’ve been taking photos professionally since November of 2022. However, I always had a fondness for photography ever since I was a kid.
Q. Why did you start photography?
A. I started photography because I had a passion for storytelling through images. I love the way that an image can convey an emotion, or a thought, or even inspire ideas. Photography is such a multifaceted field it’s hard not to see inspiration in the world around you once you start.
Q. What motivates you when it comes to photography?
A. What motivates me when it comes to photography is capturing memories and moments that otherwise just pass us by without a second thought. I feel as though I’m supposed to be the one who makes sure those memories are preserved so that we can always enjoy them. Whether that’s one week from then or ten years.
Q. Describe your photography style.
A. My photography style is really me looking through the lens of a director. I prefer lifestyle/portrait photography, but I like taking photos that can tell a story without words.
Q. Explain your Instagram name.
A. I made my Instagram name when I was focused on music. It’s my artist name: “Solo Not Han”. I’m also a bit of a Star Wars fan, and so I thought it was kinda creative to be like Han Solo, but not HIM. Hence “Solo Not Han”
Q. What are your photo goals for the next year?
A. My goal for next year is to have at least 3-4 retainer clients. As of this interview, I’m quitting my job in the same month I started my business last year to pursue a full-time freelance job. However, having a calendar full of one-off jobs isn’t sustainable enough for me, which is why I’m looking to make as many connections as possible in an effort to get the retainer clients that I need to live a successful career as a freelance photographer/videographer.
