Cameras and Coffee with Erin McConnell
Interview with Erin McConnell
What camera(s) did you use for Cameras and Coffee?
Canon 650 with Lomography’s LomoChrome Purple
How do you enjoy your coffee?
I loved my vanilla matcha from Kitab, they’ve never made me a bad drink.
What is your favorite way to express your creativity?
Obviously, through photography, but more specifically, through portraiture.
What inspires you to be creative?
I find inspiration everywhere! What inspires me the most is media like films/movies and fashion magazines.
How do you approach starting a new creative project?
It really depends on the project. I usually don’t approach every project the same way, but you’ll never catch me coming to a shoot underprepared.
What is your proudest moment in your creative career?
I can give you a top 3: graduating from art school (twice!), studying Color Theory in Japan for my undergrad, and creating 3 separate billboard campaigns in Michigan.
Who are your creative influences?
There are too many to list! I’m very lucky to be surrounded by an incredibly talented community of photographers. If I had to put someone at the top, it would be Lindsay Adler.
What are your creative goals for the upcoming year?
I’m trying to shoot at least 1-3 personal projects a month. My big goal for next year is to book an international wedding.
