Q - What camera did you use for Cameras and Coffee?

A. - Minolta X-700

Q. How long have you been taking photos?

A. I have been taking photos for about 1.5 years on film. Soon moving to Digital.

Q. Why did you start photography?

A . I started photography initially because I like messing around with broken stuff. I repaired an Old Konica Auto S2 from an antique store that was going out of business. Then I found that I really loved all the clicky mechanical bits, and it got me outside. I have a sister who is a photographer who I have grown closer to because of it, and one of my best friends picked it up before me so it is just another thing to bond over.

Q. What motivates you when it comes to photography?

A. What motivates me about photography is when you give the rolls to the people who develop them and you have to wait for your stuff to get back. Seeing how it all turned out is akin to the feeling you get when you open your Amazon package or a birthday gift. Some stuff doesn't turn out, but what does makes it all worth the price.

Q. Describe your photography style.

A. My photography style isn't anything in particular I would say. I like photographing cars at cars and coffee. I like old, abandoned buildings. Candids of friends and family are also in there too. I am not great at portrait photography but I can't really say I've made any solid attempts at it enough to know.

Q. Explain your Instagram name.

A. My Instagram handle is just a nickname from high school that my friends would call me. Garrett is 2 syllables and Gret is one. And then just my last name so people know it's me.

Q. What are your photo goals for the next year?

A. My goals for next year are to amass a stupid collection of oddball cameras like the Contax AX and the Minolta CLE. I also want to start working on a photo book about being tall. Just photos of moments where I don't quite fit in the mirror in the bathroom, or the checkout camera at Target cuts off my head. Things that hang too low on sidewalks. Seats I can't fit into. I think that would be a fun idea that I specifically could bring to life since I am 6'7".
