Nicole Miazgowicz from Lost Fern Goods
Scott: How long have you been doing art and illustration?
Nicole: I’ve drawn for my entire life and went through about 10 years of trying a bunch of different avenues out and working on my skill set until I started Lost Fern Goods. For freelance illustration, though I’ve done various small freelance projects and commissions over the years, I really started on my current path two years ago.
Scott: When did you start Lost Fern Goods?
Nicole: 2018 with my first show at DIYSF! I started out under my own name and then made it officially Lost Fern Goods in 2019.
Scott: What art education and experience do you have?
Nicole: I studied theater (performance) in college but had an art minor. Besides that, I’m largely self-taught. In 2020 I took a year-long course with Visual Arts Passage at the Illustration Academy which really catapulted me to where I am today.
Scott: How would you describe your style of art?
Nicole: Beautiful with a gloomy edge, soft, and highly nostalgic.
Scott: What are your goals for the next year?
Nicole: Continue to build my client list and let myself experiment and play with no outward goal except growing into my personal voice as an artist.
Scott: One positive thing about yourself?
Nicole: I have a lot of hope! I forget that about myself, but even though this road has been slow and often frustrating, I wake up day after day to make it happen.
Scott: What is something many people don’t know about you?
Nicole: I have an earthworm phobia. As in, even typing that word makes me feel nauseous. Give me snakes, spiders, literally anything else and I’m fine!
